The trucking industry has a representation problem. Women make up approximately 7–8% of the CDL driver workforce — a number that has grown steadily but still leaves a significant majority of an industry that benefits from every driver feeling like it was designed without them in mind.
The gear doesn't fit right. The facilities aren't always designed for them. The culture in some corners of the industry still treats women like guests rather than professionals. After 28 years in the industry — working as a broker, building relationships with carriers, watching the hiring and placement process from the inside — she understood the gap better than almost anyone.
